Sunderland will be without midfielder Lee Cattermole for Tuesday's FA Cup fourth round replay at Fulham.
Cattermole is facing a further two to three weeks on the sidelines with a knee problem, while centre-back John O'Shea may be rested.
Fulham's on-loan Swansea defender Jazz Richards is cup-tied, while captain Scott Parker could also miss out.
The club's manager Kit Symons said: "Scotty's struggling a little bit with injury and illness."
The original tie finished 0-0 at the Stadium of Light, although Fulham striker Hugo Rodallega hit a post late on for the Championship side.
Rodallega's strike partner Ross McCormack believes the Cottagers can finish the job against the Black Cats and book a fifth-round trip to Bradford.
"It would be great to go through," said McCormack, who has scored 11 goals this season.
"It's a good chance at Craven Cottage, where we've proved we can beat anyone - we can blow teams away and we'll definitely be looking to do that."
